Your Immune Defenses Going Down? Build Them Up!

Have you noticed when you listen, read or view the news today how many instances of tainted food is finding its way on the market. We hear about recall after recall. Ever notice that the recalls have to do with produce and not processed food? Now, we have a problem with a tainted steroid injection for pain and it’s killing people. Sometimes I wonder if the United States is being hit with biological warfare and we don’t even know it. It should be something to think about or it could come down to pure laziness on corporations not doing strict quality control.

What about your own defenses? How’s the function of your immune system at the moment? Do you feel you are protected enough that if you were to eat a particular food or come in contact with a bacteria, virus or fungus that your immune system will up to the task to prevent you from getting sick? The only time of year we used to worry about was winter time, the season for colds and flu. Now, that season is twelve months a year and cold medicine is flying off the shelves daily. This is not the way it should be!

I get asked all the time, “What can I do to keep my immune system strong?”. My answer is three things. Yes, you can take Vitamin C, but we have to go beyond that today. I prefer to use Colostrum, Thymus Extracts and Monolaurin. All three help to strengthen the immune system and provide a barrier to keep us from getting sick.

Colostrum is supposed to be our first food when we’re born. It is the food before breast milk and is only produced for 72 hours. So you’re thinking, I’m older and I can’t just go suck on somebody’s breast and get it. That’s right, you’d be arrested! But Colostrum is available in a supplement form to help you receive the immune factors you need. I take it daily and there are two reasons why I love colostrum. One, it helps to keep your small intestines healthy to provide a healthy barrier to separate the good from the bad. Many have a condition called Leaky Gut Syndrome, which simply means you lack the thin, opaque protective barrier lining that coats your small intestine. Without it, you are open to autoimmune diseases like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and others. Secondly, Colostrum strengthens the thymus gland, the heart of your immune system so to speak. Having healthy T-cells and B-cells will give you the power you need to have a strong healthy immune system.

I mentioned Thymus extracts. I take Colostrum and Thymus extracts together because as we age, the thymus gland shrinks and lowers the strength of our immune system. The elderly get sick quicker and have a harder time fighting off illness because their thymus glands are small. Taking Colostrum and a Thymus extract will help to add weight and keep the thymus gland strong and healthy. Personally, I haven’t had the flu in over 12 years and never take a flu shot. I owe it to Colostrum and Thymus extracts to keep me healthy.

Monolaurin is a nutrient is derived from coconut and is a powerful antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal compound which also helps to enhance the function of the immune system. This one is something that everyone needs to add to their nutritional medicine cabinet due to all the of problems we are seeing on our food supply and who knows maybe protect us from tainted drugs (no proof yet, but why take the chance?)

Monolaurin breaks down the protective protein coating around bacteria, viruses and fungi. This allows the immune system to effectively remove the offending particles and ward off what could have been a serious problem. Monolaurin is great for colds, flu, sinus, allergies, Lyme Disease, MRSA and others. Seriously, don’t ignore this important compound. Monolaurin has the same lauric acid property as mother’s breast milk so it has to be good!

Last but not least and is the most important and most vital component of your immune system and that is healthy gut flora. Our gastrointestinal tract is 70-80% of our immune system. If you have poor gut health, you will have poor overall health. Use a high quality probiotic to replenish and reestablish your good healthy gut flora and reverse a weak immune system. You whole body requires health gut bacteria to make you healthy and reverse poor health and disease. The perfect balance is 85% good bacteria and 15% bad bacteria.

The beneficial properties of probiotics are as follows:
  • Production of enzymes such as proteases which help digest proteins, and lipases, to digest fat .
  • Production of B vitamins which are biocatalysts in food digestion, particularly folic acid and Bl2 .
  • Improvement of the digestibility of food for animals .
  • Production of the natural antibiotic Acidophilin which has been patented, and Bulgarican has been produced from L. bulgaricus .
  • Inhibits of the growth of 23 toxic producing microorganisms .
  • Help in the alleviation of lactose intolerance caused by the deficiency of the enzyme lactase. Such L. acidophilus cultures produce significant quantities of lactase which may help digest lactose more fully and thereby reduce the possibility of bad breath, bloating, gas formation and stomach cramps .

To keep your immune system strong and vibrant invest high quality Colostrum, Thjymus Extracts, Monolaurin, and Protiiotics,

Hi Bea, You should try Essential Formulas Dr. Ohhira's Probiotic. I would chew them to help the stomach. Also, artichoke extract capsules are excellent is helping to improve digestive function after you eat. It helps with nausea, vomiting, stomach upset and more.

Dr. Bond,
I enjoy your program and enabling us to apply to our lives. I recall a guest who speaks of a product of sweet grass, but I cannot find her information so I can order. I believe it helps with fungus. Please help!
Thanks,
Susan

Hello Dr. Bond,
How would you dose the above? Can the thymus and colostrum be taken at the same time or do they need to be each taken alone and on an empty stomach? Also same question for the monolaurin. I have a chronic low WBC made worse after radiation treatment for Breast Cancer and old viruses are tearing their ugly heads.
Thank you.

Follow the directions on the labels of the supplements. You can take them together and I usually take mine on an empty stomach. Take the herb Myrrh for WBC as it can quadruple the WBC. Monolaurin is great if you have a bacterial or viral infection. Take 3 capslues and if it's severe, take 6 capsules (600mg each).
