Dr. Ward Bond's Eye Surgery Pre-Op & Post-Op Protocol

Here is my eye health protocol that I used for pre-op and post-op preparation and recovery. I did follow all of the surgeon’s orders when it came to medication which include one antibiotic and Prednisone eye drops. He put on an extra week of 4 drops per day of the Prednisone due to the riskiness of my surgery and the recovery was vital. Now let’s move to the nutrition.

Terry Naturally CuraMed - I used this before and after my surgery for the reduction of inflammation. I asked my surgeon if I should stop taking Turmeric and he told me no. He said no, because he related to me that my eye surgery is considered a bloodless surgery. I took the CuraMed as directed and doubled the dose after surgery.

Primrose Leaf Ocu20/20 - I chose this eye formula because it addresses ocular pressure. Before surgery, my pressure was 12. The day after surgery it was 36 due to inflammation (which was normal) and one week later the pressure was 16. This formula has all the antioxidants as well as Astaxanthin which is 4X more effective than Lutein. All of the carotenoids in the formula address visual acuity and the rods in the eyes responsible for color.

Vitamin Shoppe Injuv - This is the HEALER! This is the clinical hyaluronic acid that I have used for years. Hyaluronic acid is something we are born with and it is the nutrient that reduces the formation of scar tissue and the first ever application was used as eye drops after eye surgery. I took 4-6 capsules daily before and after. This is what amazed the doctors about my recovery and lack of scar tissue. Remember, the most delicate tissues in the body are those of the eyes. The liquid portion inside your eyeball is hyaluronic acid.

Vitamin A (fish oil source only) - Vitamin A is used to improve tear production and prevent dry eyes. Many people who have lens replacement surgery will end up with dry eyes. I took 30-50,000IU of Vitamin A daily for a month before surgery and after to prevent dry eyes. And it worked.

Amyloban 3399 - This is the best Lion’s Mane mushroom product made. It is normally used for brain health and memory. I used it because of its ability to nourish the nervous system and I wanted to make sure my optic nerve was being fed and stayed healthy. This supplement is very expensive, but I take it daily and it works!

Terry Naturally Clinical OPC - I took this solely to keep my level of antioxidants in my body at their highest level. It also prevents infection and improves blood flow for healing.

N-Acetyl-Cysteine - This nutrient is usually used to covert into glutathione for the health of the lens of the eyes. But since I had lens replacement surgery, I used it for increasing again, the levels of antioxidant power in my body.
